Stef Heendrickxen - Painter
Born in Toulouse in the south of France, Stef Heendrickxen completed her classes at the Beaux-Arts in Orléans where she discovered printmaking and collage which greatly inspired her in her artistic discoveries. During her studies, she went to England for 6 months to specialize in illustration at the Norwich School of Art & Design as part of the Erasmus program. She then developed a taste for travel and spent her time crossing Europe and sometimes even the Atlantic to work in the United States.
In 2001, she finally settled in Montreal where she produced her first animal portraits, first in linocuts, then on canvas. The series, entitled “Disguised Animals”, plays with humor on stereotypes and masks of circumstance, in a style that flirts with caricature and the world of comics.
